So How come all we hear from the core team is requests for contribution? There is no detail of any actions/efforts that are happening currently? It will certainly be more engaging for all members to at least know what efforts are being worked on currently? I think expectations need to work both ways otherwise you just have an autocratic organization that has to follow and do as the leaders choose to do. Just my 2 cents and all you frustrated folks please take a deep breath before jumping in.

I started visiting this forum only recently. From what I have seen briefly, I can say that the actual contributions in terms of effort seem to be coming from members like Pappu. And I really appreciate that. I see people here and there saying that IV isn't doing anything useful etc.
My point to such people would be - no one is stopping you from organizing a rally or doing a hunger strike or whatever it is you have in mind. Lead, and we shall follow. These efforts that are being led by IV core leadership doesnt detract from whatever you want to do.
Dont take this the wrong way. From what I have seen in my very brief history of following these forums, this is one of the few immigration forums out there that is not driven by ulterior motives - lawyers' interests etc. Please, please, as a favor, do not drag this effort down. I understand many of us are frustrated, but let not the frustration drag us down deeper into the hole. For people who don't agree with the policies here, put forth some constructive suggestions and see how that works. If it doesn't work, well you have realized how tough it is to get a group of people follow your conviction :) And then you might develop an appreciation for the work being done here.
And if your approach works, hey..excellent for all of us. But please don't put forth only negative criticism.

If you believe IGNOU or Univ of Pheonix are fraudulent, Please provide proof of this and also report to USCIS.

This will come to end very soon and has to come to an end very soon. I think the process has already begun. Number of H1b visas rejected at Indian bodyshops have gone up. Operating margins at Infosys has shrunk significantly. Infosys and other bodyshops have seen stock price plummet drastically.
Companies such as Congizant have stopped bringing people from India on H1. Rather they are trying to hire people in the US who already have H1B visas. The illegals who have gotton their H1B from shady consultants in NJ, CA and elsewhere. Congizant is doing community service by legalizing illegals. The people who sat on the bench during recession while holding their H1B visas without a paycheck. Sorry with paycheck which needs to be refunded to the employer by personal check. Stop the fraud, please stop the fraud.

Not sure if we already have IV, if we really need another google group but the main aim for doing this is to send reminders to us to send letters and once in a while have discussions on what affect our efforts are having. "Well, I don't think gctest is against EB3. He is against consultants from sleazy bodyshopping companies, which is right.". Some one left me a red saying "not all consultants from sleazy bodyshopping companies are incapable." I agree and I never said that. If I came across that way then I apologize.
Everybody is trying to survive in this world ..diff people react differently to same situation..lying on resume/achievements is not illegal(reason y no body is prosecuted because of this fact..they are simply denied that benefit) however its unethical ..but iam not here to preach ethics.

My point to say all companies lie/manipulate things to certain extent..desi consultants atleast dont deprive lives like other BIG companies where shareholders are kept in dark until they realize that company is no more worth anything.
Comparing one wrong doing with another does not justify as an argument. It is actually a logical fallacy. In other words, 2 wrongs do not make a right. Try doing that in the court of law.
Iam not supporting any malpractises are anything anyways this is not a criminal thing its just immoral ..
Malpractices are criminal (if law is violated) but a corporation cannot be tried criminally because it cannot go to jail.:)
You may have noted that I did not bring up morality even though I wanted to because everyone has a different measuring stick for it.
however if theres a loop hole and people want to chance it its upto them. They will be appropriately denied if they are caught, However its not like they are killing anybody.
I totally agree with that. Also, I don't think they will be denied because they did not do anything wrong. System provides them with an option for doing so.
Finally what do you think when even govt is planning to make illegals legals ..its respecting peoples wishes against legal things(ofcourse they get benifitted)Humanity/compassion is number one..rules are for our well being ..they are not hard and fast.

As always, thanks to IV leadership for their work and inspiration. I am curious to know IV's opinion on possibilities of legislative changes this year. I was more optimistic last December (2006), than I am today. Immigration reform is dead, and based on what I am hearing from some of the blogs, the chances for any legislation this year for skilled immigrants are bleak. After a lot of work in last two years, I have some opportunities to get into an alternative field of interest. The I-485 process (switched job and applied again in Nov 2006) now limits me from changing into a different field. After being in US for near 10 yrs, I have lost the appetite to continue putting everything at stake. My pessimism may be arising from my paticular situation, but I don't see any point in continuing to be in this country if I cannot switch to my field of interest for another 2-10 yrs.

Just curious. Why do you claim ROW is receiving preferential treatment over India when all the countries get the same upper limit of the visas. Now if the Indians ask for more visas just because there are more Indians asking for green cards, wouldn't that be preferential treatment?.
I wouldn�t say ROW is receiving preferential treatment, but they are in an advantageous position due to their representation. I don�t think there will ever be a consensus on the quota issue, both ROW and India/China applicants come up with their own arguments supporting their stand on it.
Personally I think recapturing unused visas will decrease the wait time for India/China applicants without affecting ROW applicants. There won�t be any need to remove quota limits.
And I agree with rajeshalex that this thread needs to be closed. the counter arguments are getting more confusing...
