Can we put a poll on this thread to see how many members will attend the rally? Thanks.

I'm not entirely sure how to do that on an already created thread...

I was referring to "AC21 Memo" not the "AC21 law".
I agree with your statement that AC21 is a law.

ok, probably you meant memos issued by USCIS for AC-21 implementation.

Would you please explain what you meant by "real memo" when you wrote
AC21 memo is a real memo

I am not aware that there multiple kinds of memos.

I spoke to him yesterday, this is what he told me 'I wrote this letter long back, neither I remember what I asked nor I kept a copy but we can presume I asked about pending I-485 applications, because just asking pending 'applications' for Indians wouldn't have made sense anyway, than it could be any application Citizenship etc, etc..
I think we still are waiting from the member to tell us, exactly what was asked of the senator.

We should fight this pig... who spreads false news for ratings.
Americans always talk about how some middle east countries spread Hate to its citizens.
    What is going on here?
What is his news all about?
He is developing hate and racism in Americans by quoting false information on Legal immigration.
At work place people ask me if i was overstaying...I am sick and tired of explaining everybody.

    Fight the xenophobic pig.

    FIGHT THE PIG:mad:

Well said dude....I second your comment on the imbecile! I wish he would spend one night in the mexican neighborhood and I bet my brown ar#e he would be skinned alive!!:D Oh BTW, signed the document!!!

I totally agree. They want to issue visas to all of them in a year... They will have more RFEs for legals than illgeal so people should work towards their temporary permnanent residency that is Z

You can call Jose in Mexico and they ll deliver a passport in less than a week. ALL WE NEED IS TO REGISTER A LAWN MOWING FIRM and then BILL THE CLIENT at 100$/Hr for first designing the plan for the mowing on a computer and then getting a MEXICAN to do it for us. ...;-)

AM I BEING REVERSE RACIST? AM I BAD? I think its healthy to speak your mind out against opression based on RACE

    logiclife, ragz4u,

All things considered, do you think it will be a good idea to call up the members to remind them that IV needs contribution?

If you think so, then we can form a group of, say, 10 people and each of them would call 200 members nudging them about contribution.

I will volunteer to be on the group.

dude..i not not looking for a character certificate from anyone here!

when someone can leave me a foul message why shouln't I..!

to avoid abuse of the system..let the dot givers identity be known to all!

i just raised the question...i am not doubting the intention of IV!

true...its the attitude...why is eveyonne taking it personally! (singhsa3)

It not just matter of Idea but it is the matter of attitude. It is one thing to generate thought provoking ideas and other thing to say things like
"So to avoid sounding stupid and foolish and desperate when you call".

By the way "pointless" is one of the those people who have been leaving comments like "chuteya" when giving red dots.
How do I know that ? a regular member may not be able to view this information but certainly moderators can.

So the intentions and very credibility of this person ("pointless") is in question!

    Hi there,

I received the exact same Email notice from USCIS as you on Sept. 28, 2007. I'm confused! I got my H1B 7th year extention approved in Feb. 2006. What happened to this case?

What are your priority dates? They may now be working on your GC application.

I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS...this morning 10:00AM CST we got the CPO emails for both of us...

I just can not thank Aall of you enough and the IV community for the support they have provided over the last few years - especially since Sept 1.

I will be around - not going anywhere and will support IV efforts!

BEST OF LUCK FOR THOSE WHO ARE WAITING...Believe me "appka bhi number aayega" I was loosing hopes - since Sept 1 when saw number of approvals after my PD/RD/ND etc..but there is really nothing that can predict this system.

Here is my journey - encapsulated:

    PD- June 04
    I485 files on July 2nd 2007 - NSC
    RD 8/4/2207
    SR #1: 9/4/2209
    SR #2" 9/11/2209
    Senator contact: 9/10/2009 and 9/11/2009
    Infopass: 9/15/2009
    CPO emails: 9/17/2009

Hang in there - open SRs and contact your senators!!!

....and the final step #6 is done - got the physical cards at home today. One long journey comes to an end!!!

Wishing LUCK for everyone who's still waiting!

I'm July 2007 filer and per the Aug visa bulletin my I-485 application is current (PD - Feb, 2006). I raised a SR with NSC on 15-Jul to find out the status of my application and here is the response I got from them today:

The processing of your case has been delayed. A check of our records establishes that your case is not yet ready for decision, as the required investigation into your background remains open.

Until the background investigation is completed, we cannot move forward on your case. These background checks are required to be completed on all applicants who apply for the immigration benefit you are seeking. We will make every effort to make a decision on this case as soon as the background checks are complete. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please contact customer service at the number provided below.

I'm kind of worried as I haven't seen folks getting this response. I haven't gotten even a DMV ticket and not sure why would I get that kind of response. Please advise what should be my next course of action and if there is anything I can do from my end.

I think that is what they will do in order not to look like fools.
the question is, What happens to those july filers whose applications have not been returned yet and who will become current in the next bulletin.
Will USCIS ask them for the new fees.... Will they have to do all paperwork again including medicals.....what a mess!

It will be even interesting for cases that are not returned but will not be current in next bulletin. Your medical reports are valid for one year.

Let me give this a shot:

Going by your id registration date, I am presuming you are new to this site and do not know the history of what transpired over the last few years. There are hundreds of threads/discussions/posts where these arguments have been made and answered. We (all of us) are seeing increased interest in solving our EB-GC problems because of hopeless retrogression and a ray of hope in terms of CIR. Just because one shows new interest, you cannot expect immediate consolation and agreement on what you say/propose.
There were numerous times when members felt a specific campaign and/or item needs to be pursued. Serious discussions happened and eventually the advice of core which gets its info from various sources supported or not. There is nothing to stop you or I from pursuing an option.
I for many months did not understand the rationale and the way the system/politics function in this country. I still do not understand. BUT I do understand certain basic things:
    1. How laws are crafted: the process, the resources involved and other technical matters.
    2. Lobbying and advocacy: What role they play when dealing with lawmaking. Go read about the healthcare bill and what is happening in the Congress, lobbying, interest groups, associations, ordinary citizens, PACs, non-partisan groups. you might get a taste of what this is all about.
    3. Systems: USCIS, DOL, Homeland Security etc
    4. Politics: The main parties involved (Dems, Republicans). Who reacts to what and what their core values are. What is left, middle, right. who is where.
    5. How national and state politics matter.

I am going to generalize here a bit: A lot of members who get their info from CNN or Google Reader or other 'mainstream' media sources might get either a black or white version of news/happenings. I quickly realized there are numerous shades of gray when dealing with Washington DC. How politics of left, middle and right come into play, which Senator or representative votes which way and why, etc. Listening to a press conference and reading an article on CNN does not give one insight into politics. These are the 'backend' intelligence which I trust core to know and advice us. I do not expect them to reveal their sources nor specific tactics. Most often than not, there is a rational explanation.
In this specific case, my take is: AILA with all their nobel intentions are in the 'business' of making money from folks like us and our employers. There are many shades here and it is not all black or white as it may seem. Like a member pointed out, AILA does not represent just EB or legal immigration. There are other things involved which may be detrimental to us (you do not want to be bracketed in the same category as illegals or want amnesty as an example). Apart from this, timing is critical.

One of the most important parties apart from Lawmakers is our opponents. Anti-immigrants who wants to know tactics, strategy: who we are calling, whom we are faxing, whom we are meeting, how we work, etc. They doggedly follow and couteract many items. For every fax/call/email you send there might be a counter reply from anti-immigrants. When core suggests confidentiality and secrecy, those I believe are not some magic/secret cloakish things but a matter of pragmatic reality. That is the world we are in and to be successful, we have to deal with those realities.

Giving out updated information is not as simple as it seems. These are steps which can be easily retraced and antis can quickly use those steps and backstab us, crippling our efforts. Updated information == tactics. My last point is about: Donors Vs Non-donors. Do you know that you need not be a donor to volunteer ? Try getting in touch with folks at IV. There is a lot you can do and you seem to be the right person whom we need on our side. I urge you to contact IV.

Will encourage my friends to do the same.

Note to IV Members: See if you can update donation amounts everyday, this might motivate few to donate more.

There is vast difference between US and Indian housing market crash. India RE market will not collapse like here. There may be a melt down or small correction. The simple big reason is demand for housing in middle class due to economic growth. Based on population density, US is 9 times bigger than India. Lot of land in US. But housing land is so limited in India. So there is always demand. Second reason, there is no sub-prime lending in India. Third, in India, housing loan is based on cash worthiness rather than credit worthyness like in US. So we may not see such a massive foreclosure/bankrupcy in India to bring the price down considerably like in US.

However, now the prices or extremly high, such that it can not be affordabe to people other than NRI or IT folks. 1 crore houses are very common now. Based on US economy it will definitly come down. It will be depend on how hard IT/outsourcing bussiness gets affectd in future.

True, but you are forgetting the basic definition of demand. Demand is willingness to buy supported by ability to buy. If you are from any metros in India, think how many of your Non-IT, mainstream friends draw more than Rs. 50,000 per month? How can someone making even Rs. 50,000 a month afford 50 Lakh flat?

If there are 10 people drooling out side Ferrari showroom that does not mean there is demand for 10 Ferrari :)

"Recurring Contribution" with no strings attached for non-contributors. :)

I do not support "Paid membership". I support "Recurring Contribution" Ultimately it is money but at basic definition both concepts are completely different.
